Quiet Canvas ©
A downloadable game for Windows
Turn any picture into a paint-by-numbers canvas, and paint it your way.
Quiet Canvas takes a photo of your dog, your last holiday, or a famous painting and turns it into numbered sections. Then you paint, one stroke at a time, in watercolor, pastel, oil or flat color. There are no timers, no scores and no wrong answers. Stop whenever you like, come back tomorrow, and export it when it feels done.
Paint anything
- Open any picture from your PC and choose how many colors (32 to 64) and how detailed the sections are.
- Or pick from a small gallery of public-domain masterpieces: Hokusai, Van Gogh, Monet, Seurat, Vermeer and more.
- Keep the original open in a reference window you can move and resize.
Paint your way
- Four mediums, each with its own textured brush: soft watercolor with wet edges, chalky pastel, streaky oil, or clean flat color.
- Every number has a suggested color, but nothing is locked. Recolor any number from the palette or a free color wheel.
- Brush, fill a whole section, erase, or pick a color straight from the painting.
- Strokes stay inside the section you start in, so you can paint loosely and still stay in the lines.
No pressure
- No fail state. Unpainted sections are fine.
- Undo up to 50 steps.
- Lost a tiny section? Find unpainted jumps right to it.
- Paintings save on their own and pick up exactly where you left off.
Share it
- Watch a time-lapse of your painting coming together and save it as a looping GIF.
- Export as PNG or JPG, on its own, next to the original, in a mat or a wooden frame, or as line art to print and color by hand.
Cozy by design
- Original calm music, soft brush and water sounds, and optional rain, forest, fireplace or ocean ambience.
- Add your own music by dropping files into the Music folder.
- Light and dark mode, adjustable interface size.
